In the match played in Chennai, India on October 23, Afghanistan easily achieved Pakistan’s target of 283 runs in the 49th over with the loss of just two wickets.

This victory of Afghanistan can also be called historic as they managed to defeat Pakistan in an ODI match for the first time.

Pakistan and Afghanistan have faced each other in eight ODIs since 2012, seven of which were won by Pakistan, but Afghanistan finally managed to defeat Pakistan for the first time in a crucial World Cup match last night.

Therefore, Afghanistan players and fans are celebrating this first historic victory. The video of the players dancing in the dressing room also caught everyone’s attention, but the statement that caused the most stir was that of Afghan player Ibrahim Zadran, who gave the Man of the Match award.

He said: ‘I feel good for myself and my country and I want to name this award for those who are being sent back to Afghanistan from Pakistan.’

After this statement, while the hashtag ‘Pakistan vs Afghanistan’ was trending on X (formerly Twitter), Ibrahim Zadran also joined the trending list.

Pakistani fans felt this statement was political and unnecessary. A user on X called Muhammad Uzair called it a ‘double standard’ by the Afghan cricket team and said, ‘Is ICC sleeping or are all the rules only for Pakistan?’

Syed Alam also responded to this statement and wrote: “And he never showed the courage to raise his voice for the thousands of Afghan girls who have been deprived of education by the Taliban.”

Dr. Shafiq Ahmed called the statement ‘trash’ and questioned that ‘if Afghanistan is for Afghans, where else should it have been sent? It is said that they are being handed over to an enemy. If so, he (Ibrahim Zadran) should have said that Afghanistan is not safe for Afghans.’

Giving a solution to the problem, Aurangzeb Abbas said, “Afghans love India, so I think it’s time to transfer all the illegal Afghan refugees to India.”

Another user on X also criticized the statement, reminding the Afghan players of the earthquake in their country and saying that the player should have dedicated the award to the thousands of Afghans who lost their lives in the recent earthquake. Also for the thousands of people who were displaced and died in Gaza. In the end, he said that perhaps ‘the script must have been found.’
