John Ashton, the film’s John Taggart from the “Beverly Hills Cop” series, is dead. He was 76 years old

John Ashton died last week after a long illness. The American actor is known to fans around the world as John Taggart from the “Beverly Hills Cop” series.

John Ashton was born on February 22, 1948. He has an acting education from the University of Southern California.

He started appearing in front of the camera in the 1970s. He played episodes, among others: in the popular crime series “Kojak” and “Columbo”, as well as in “Dallas” and “M*A*S*H”.

The gate to his career was opened by his participation in the film “Gliniarz z Beverly Hills”in which he starred Sergeant John Taggart. Thanks to this role, he was later able to appear in the films “Some Kind of Wonderful”, “Before Midnight”, “Nasty Suzy”, “Big Little League”, “Fast Money” and “Where Are You, Amanda”.

He returned to the role of Taggart twice more: in the 1987 sequel “Gliniarz z Beverly Hills II” and in a film premiering this year on Netflix “Gliniarz z Beverly Hills: Axel F”in which it is revealed that Taggart is now the police commissioner.

Privately, John Ashton was a great golf enthusiast. He willingly took part in charity golf tournaments held all over the world.

The actor had been fighting cancer for a long time. The official announcement said he died Thursday in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
