Nicolás Maduro reported that there will be an improvement in public transportation throughout the country after revealing plans to implement a new public transportation system on a national scale.
He assured that they have already taken concrete measures to strengthen the transportation system. In addition, he indicated that he has already brought “100 bus units from China and I have just recovered 126 units (Yutong),” which have already been delivered to Greater Caracas.
He also said that they will add 100 more units for the land transportation service and announced the acquisition of two thousand (2000) modern units that will transform the landscape of public transportation in Venezuela.
These new units will be at the service of the people and will be distributed in key cities such as Cumaná, Maracaibo, Valencia, San Félix, Puerto La Cruz, Maturín, Caripito, San Carlos, Cabimas and Calabozo.
“In the next twelve months, from August 2024 to August 2025, I will develop and found the National Metrobús at the national level,” he stated.
Incorporation of new Yutong units
He also announced the incorporation of new Yutong units to the Metrobus System, which will soon arrive in the country.
During the edition of “Con Maduro en la Vía”, with workers of the Metrobús System, from Caracas to La Guaira, he indicated that the system must be fully rescued and work continued to complete the stations that remain to be completed.
“Those works were in the hands of Odebrecht, they went bankrupt and abandoned, but we have to, as we recover income, recover the infrastructure (…) The most important thing is the training of the staff and the daily preventive maintenance of the spaces and facilities. units,” he said.
For his part, the Minister of Popular Power for Transportation, Ramón Celestino Velásquez Araguayán, indicated that there is progress in 98 percent of the recovery of the Metro stations and the operation of the trains of the Caracas Metro System.
He expressed that in a second phase they are carrying out work for the workers, from training to recovering values and work areas.
He detailed that the 42 Metrobús routes will have an updated and reinforced security system. He also reported that a QR code system will be implemented at the stops, with which the next unit that will arrive at the stop will be known.
