On the occasion of the second anniversary of Russia’s illegal “annexation” of parts of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, the G7 Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, and the High Representative of the European Union, We express our firm support for Ukraine and its territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence.
We will never tolerate these or any other violations of international law by Russia against Ukraine and its people, and we will not tolerate Russia’s illegal aggression, human rights violations in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory, and critical civilian We continue to condemn in the strongest possible terms the ongoing and brutal attacks that have destroyed urban infrastructure.
We call on all members of the international community to do the same, and we call on Russia, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, to abide by the Charter of the United Nations and the fundamental principles that underpin the international order.
Our political, military, financial, economic and humanitarian support for Ukraine and its legitimate defense against a full-scale Russian invasion, as well as our commitment to raising the costs of Russia’s illegal war. , continues to be unwavering. To that end, we will continue to engage with the broader international community, aiming to restore full respect for the rules-based international order.
