The Indonesian Musical FESTIVAL (FMI) will be held again in 2024. This festival is scheduled to take place on 25-27 October.

Josh Marcy, one of the curators of FMI 2024, said that the enthusiasm of Indonesian music lovers was quite large in waiting for this event.

According to him, the development of the musical situation in the country is one of the factors that makes many people look forward to this festival every year.

“FMI 2024 carries a spirit of renewal in the musical group selection process,” said Josh.

This update aims to make FMI not only a ceremonial event, but also highlight the quality of the show.

“Of course we hope that FMI’s agenda of presenting quality performing arts works can continue in the years to come, so that the expression and exploration of Indonesian musicality continues to develop,” said Josh at a press conference on Thursday (26/9).

Ahmad Mahendra, Director of Film, Music and Media at the Ministry of Education and Culture, also appreciated this activity.

He hopes that the Indonesian Musical Festival will not only be a forum for expression for musical artists, especially in the field of performing arts, but also as a means of increasing capacity for the artists involved.

“We believe this event will be an important momentum to strengthen the performing arts network and facilitate wider collaboration between creative actors,” said Mahendra.

Furthermore, Mahendra stated that it is hoped that this festival can encourage the birth of new works that are more innovative and relevant to current developments.

“Through this festival, we want to see Indonesian performing arts grow not only on a national scale, but also be able to compete and be known globally. In fact, we hope that the Indonesian Musical Festival can learn from Broadway musical theater in America as a reference source. “Therefore, the government through the Ministry of Education and Culture will continue to be present to ensure the sustainability of this ecosystem,” he stressed.
