Enjoy Christmas the Kauai way at the annual Kauai Christmas Lights Festival at Lihue County Park. One of the largest Christmas light displays in Hawaii runs from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day with thousands of decorations and twinkling lights. The highlight of the exhibit is the magnificent Hokulea Aloha Tree. The lights come on every evening from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Entrance is free.

Honolulu Hale to Oahu (December 7, 2024 – January 1, 2025)

Honolulu’s Christmas lights draw large crowds to Honolulu Hale (or Honolulu City Hall). The lights are turned on during the first weekend in December and stay on until New Year’s Day. Highlights of the vibrant light display include a large 50-foot (15 m) Christmas tree and the beloved statues of Shaka Santa and Tūtū Mele, the Hawaiian equivalent of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Honolulu’s Christmas lights can best be appreciated on a trolley tour. The Waikiki Trolley departs from Auahi Street in Ward Village each night during the holiday season. The trolley passes through the historic city center with Christmas carols and stories to share during the tour. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. In 2024, the Opening Night Celebration and Electric Light Parade will take place on December 7.

Banyan Tree Park in Maui (December 2024)

Lahaina Banyan Court Park, located at the corner of Front Street and Canal Street in Lahaina, is decorated with thousands of Christmas lights for the Christmas season. In particular, Hawaii’s oldest Banyan tree, located in the park, is completely lit up with Christmas lights. The park also offers activities for children, like visits with Santa to the North Pole and photo opportunities with a 2-meter snowman. The park is lit with holiday lights every evening in December.

Christmas Lights on Big Island (December 2024)

Punalights is the longest running synchronized light show on the Big Island, running since 2008. This display, put on by Stanward Oshiro near his home, can be seen in Lower Puna during the month of December, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Christmas lights are synchronized with the music broadcast on 106.7 FM. The exhibit consists of garlands and tinsel on the house, white-framed figurines on the lawn, and a 5-meter Christmas tree in the center of the exhibit.
