Caacupé advances in sewerage and wastewater treatment works

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Caacupé wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is in its final stage with 92% progress, reported the Ministry of Public Works (MOPC).

The work will allow the adequate treatment of wastewater from both homes and local industries, improving the living conditions of more than 15,000 inhabitants.

The project as a whole, which includes sanitary sewage works, presents an overall progress of 80%. Other components also show important progress: both the basic network and home connections reach 73% completion, while the Pumping Stations register lesser progress, with EB1 at 65% and EB2 at 47%. Recent work has included the installation of reno mattresses, storm drains, drive pipes, valve manholes and wetland improvements.

According to the information provided by Eng. Pablo Adorno, from the Coordination of Drinking Water, Sanitation and Hydraulic Works Projects (CAPSOH), dependent on the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), the project continues to advance as planned.

The financing for these works comes from a donation from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and local counterpart funds.
