FFmpeg 7.1 released

FFmpeg is an open source software suite designed to record, convert and play digital audio and video files. Since its initial release in 2000, the software has become one of the leading applications in multimedia processing. Many users may have FFmpeg installed on their computer without being aware of it, as an extremely large number of programs are based on it.

The software includes a range of libraries and tools that run on various operating systems such as Windows, macOS and Linux. FFmpeg offers features such as converting between different audio and video formats, applying filters and effects, recording and streaming files, and extracting audio and video streams from different sources. Now version 7.1 of FFmpeg been published. FFmpeg 7.1 is a release with many new features, including a full native VVC decoder, a new MV-HEVC decoder, a new LC-EVC decoder, a new xHE-AAC decoder as well as the completion of the IAMF decoder. This release also features hardware encoding via Vulkan, VVC encoding, ARM64 and RISC-V optimizations, and other hardware accelerations. FFmpeg 7.1 is an LTS release and builds on the previous FFmpeg 7.0 release.
