PRESIDENT-elect Prabowo Subianto has been asked not to be careless in choosing officials to lead a number of agencies in Indonesia. It is hoped that a number of issues that have occurred will be taken into consideration, one of which is agriculture.
“Mr Jokowi will soon be replaced by Mr Prabowo. “We really hope that he will pay serious attention to the agricultural sector,” said General Chair of the Indonesian Farmers’ Union (SPI) Henry Saragih in a written statement, Thursday (26/9).
The President’s policy in selecting state officials is considered important. Because, they can make decisions that directly impact the community, one of which is farmers.
Henry hopes that Prabowo will appoint officials who understand the agricultural sector to lead Bapanas in the future. The figure chosen must also be compatible with the Bulog leader appointed by the President.
“One more thing, Perum Bulog is more empowered. “We see that Bulog has financial limitations so it cannot absorb farmers’ grain optimally,” said Henry.
Officials in the agricultural sector who are chosen by the future Head of State must also be smart in considering land conversion. Because the fate of farmers is at stake if they miscalculate.
