Funeral prayers of Hasan Nasrallah in different cities of Pakistan

Thousands of people protested in various cities of Pakistan on Sunday after Hezbollah confirmed the death of Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon.

According to the news agency AFP, about 4,000 people participated in the absent funeral prayer of Hassan Nasrallah in Islamabad and 3,000 people in Karachi.

“We stand against what Israel is doing in Palestine and Lebanon, that’s why we are here today,” said 27-year-old Tasin Zafar during a rally in Islamabad.

“Pakistan strongly condemns the growing Israeli adventurism in the Middle East,” Pakistan’s foreign ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

“Yesterday’s heinous act of killing Hezbollah’s secretary general in Lebanon will further destabilize an already volatile region.”

In a statement, Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday on the roads of Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Quetta besides Mardan, Gujrat, Bannu Umarkot, Larkana, Nushki, Khasdar, Chaman and Gwadar for ‘violation of Rawalpindi agreement’ by the federal government. Apart from the protest sit-ins, it was announced to perform funeral prayers in absentia of Hassan Nasrullah.

Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman also appealed to the people of Pakistan to perform funeral prayers of Hasan Nasrallah in absentia.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman led the protest in Karachi today while other Jamaat leaders led protests in other cities.
