Berlin: Cash and valuables transporters are called on strike – rbb24

The Verdi union is calling on cash and valuables transport employees to go on an all-day strike this Monday.

In Berlin and Brandenburg, the companies Ziemann, Prosegur and WSN are on strike. Possible consequences include empty ATMs or a lack of cash at bank counters. The background is the nationwide collective bargaining for around 10,000 employees.

Even in the second round of negotiations, the employers did not present an acceptable offer, said Verdi. Instead, employers would stick to their demands, which worsen working conditions. For example, new employees should get fewer vacation days.

The employers – the Federal Association of German Money and Cash Services – say that hourly wages between 16 and 21 euros are already a long way from the legal minimum wage. Strikes would incur enormous costs for the industry, which would not be beneficial in the already difficult economic situation.

The next round of negotiations will take place on October 17th and 18th, 2024 in Munich.
