NYC Ombudsman Jumaane Williams is speculated to be the next mayor

Jumaane Williams, City Ombudsman, sent a fundraising appeal for the campaignafter the historical federal indictment against New York City Mayor Eric Adamswhich caused further speculation that the progressive politician would be preparing for a run for City Council.

“This news is incredibly serious. “The accusation further erodes New Yorkers’ trust in city government,” he wrote in an email Saturday, who is next in line to serve as acting mayor of the Big Apple.

“At the moment, New Yorkers need confidence in our city’s leadershipWilliams added, before asking his followers to “support me” and open their wallets, reported New York Post.

The Advocate has not yet joined a growing chorus of elected officials calling for Adams to resign, and instead, has demanded that the mayor show citizens that he has a plan to “govern the city effectively and regain trust”.

“He is running out of time to show that he has a plan,” manifested after the mayor was accused of wire fraud and bribery at the federal level. Adams pleaded not guilty.

In addition, Williams has dodged questions about whether or not he will run in an election caused by Adams’ resignationwhich would be done 80 days after his temporary promotion to the City Council.

Nevertheless, Councilwoman Joann Ariola, R-Queens, criticized the email bombardment as pure opportunism. and a clear sign that Williams is preparing for what is seen as a potentially crowded election.

“Instead of working to maintain trust in city government and ensure our agencies continue to work for the people of New York, Jumaane has used the mayor’s impeachment as an opportunity to get his name out there and raise funds for future special elections.”Ariola noted.
