Football is not always explainable: with four defeats in a row, Micheldorf got off to a real false start in the Upper Austrian league. The Kremstal team’s response over the past few weeks has therefore been even more impressive: In the last four games, coach Falko Feichtl’s team remained unbeaten and won three times.
One man always made the difference: Luca Mayr-Wälten. In the 3:2 against Perg he celebrated after a remarkable individual action, in Pregarten (3:1) and on Friday against Bad Ischl (3:2) he scored with a direct free kick. “Luca has an exceptional shooting technique and is currently a key player for us,” praises Micheldorf coach Falko Feichtl.
That wasn’t necessarily the case, especially in the difficult phase at the start of the season: the 28-year-old ex-Kicker from Vorwärts Steyr only came off the bench three times in the four opening defeats. Feichtl: “The simpler he makes his game, the better his performance is. When he didn’t play from the start, he handled it very professionally. He was certainly dissatisfied, but that didn’t affect the interpersonal relationship with me. I gave him We expressed our confidence in him and he made an important contribution to our success in the most recent games.”
Schröttner back in the starting line-up
Michael Schröttner also recently had to take a seat on the bench at Bad Schallerbach. After three defeats in a row, Schallerbach coach Erich Renner set an example and took the 26-year-old out of the starting line-up in the eighth round against Bad Leonfelden (1-1). Against Gmunden (4-0) and on Saturday in the top duel with Friedburg, Schröttner was allowed to start again from the start – and scored once in both games.
