Alcaraz reaches 200 wins before any number one… Minus one

Carlos Alcaraz advances steadily in the ATP 500 in Beijing. His second rival was Dutch Greek track and the match only lasted 56 minutes. The Spaniard achieved a victory without discussion 6-1 and 6-2. He won all the points he played with first serve (23/23) and punished his rival’s second serve (he won 78 percent of the points played with him). The match can be repeated in less than two months in the Davis Cup quarterfinals between Spain and the Netherlands, since both are number one in their countries.

Alcaraz will play the quarterfinals against the Russian Khachanovwhere he will seek the 201st victory of his still short career, since against Grikspoor he reached the round figure of 200 (coincidentally, he also reached 100 against the Dutchman). Like almost what the Murcian is achieving, he is doing it by beating or being very close to all precocity records. In 2022 he became the youngest world number one in history. In Beijing he has become the second player of the 29 number ones since the start of the “Open Era” who has needed the fewest matches to reach that number of duels won. According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, Carlos reaches 200 wins with 52 losses. Ahead of him is only John McEnroe, who lost only 45. And immediately behind him is Rafa Nadalcon 55.
