This Friday, September 27, in the afternoon, the pool complex of the Félix “Lalito” Velásquez Sports Center in Cumaná was reopened, by the governor of the state of Sucre, Almirante Gilberto Pinto, together with the minister for sports, Arnaldo Sánchez.

These facilities were disabled for more than a decade, due to the lack of maintenance and vandalism that caused the various sports spaces to become inoperable.

The complex was named Francisco “Tiburón Sánchez”, in honor of the illustrious Cumanese swimmer.

“It will serve for peace, for the family, the athletes, the swimmers and those who come to experience the 2024 Oriente National Games to converge,” said Governor Gilberto Pinto.

In this sense, the Minister for Sports expressed that the people of Cumaná needed to have the facilities active again, so that everyone who wishes can train in this area of ​​sport, in a swimming complex that is classified as one of the best. of the national territory.

The day’s honoree, “Tiburón” Sánchez, said he was happy for this “honor” that was being given to him, and recognized that it was not only granted to him but also to all those who were part of his training.
