1st Edition of the Business Forum ZLECAf Morocco 2024 –

RABAT, Morocco, September 23, 2024 -/African Media Agency (AMA)/- The Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Moroccan Confederation of Exporters “ASMEX” are co-organizing a business, information and awareness on the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECAF), under the theme “Intra-African Trade: Perspectives and opportunities”, on November 5, 2024 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Casablanca.

This first edition of the AfCFTA-Morocco Business Forum aims to strengthen the historical and socio-economic ties of the Kingdom of Morocco with other African partners, through consolidated South-South cooperation and a beneficial win-win partnership within the framework of this area.

This Business Forum, which will see the participation of several African Ministers of Commerce, eminent personalities, the public sector, representatives of organizations responsible for commercial promotion, experts, the private sector, the academic world and society civil, will contribute to strengthening the position of the Kingdom of Morocco as a strategic hub for Africa.

The objective of this event is to raise awareness among stakeholders of the expected effects of the implementation of the AfCFTA and present to participants the opportunities offered by this Agreement as well as the strategic directions envisaged by the Government in its implementation. The Forum also constitutes the ideal opportunity to collect proposals from participants regarding the national strategy for implementing the AfCFTA and the levers for better exploitation of this Zone.

It should be noted that the debates at this Forum will focus on themes such as strategies for penetrating African markets, available financing mechanisms, public policies favorable to intra-African trade, as well as best practices for taking advantage of the advantages offered by the AfCFTA.

This Forum, which coincides with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Marrakech Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization (WTO), will highlight the growth in the integration of African economies into the global trading system.

The AfCFTA is an ambitious project that aims to create one of the largest free trade zones in the world on the African continent with a potential market of 1.2 billion consumers and a combined GDP of $3 trillion. Signed in March 2018 at the Kigali summit, the AfCFTA is part of the African Union Agenda which aims to establish a single market on a continent-wide scale.
