Russia is preparing to adopt new amendments to the nuclear doctrine news

Russia is preparing to demarcate amendments to Its nuclear doctrine And defining new conditions under which Moscow could use nuclear weapons.

The spokesman said Kremlin Dmitry Peskov – today, Sunday – that Russia has prepared amendments to its nuclear doctrine, and they are currently being formalized.

Peskov justified the new amendments to the international situation, the escalation of tensions near Russia’s borders, the increasing proximity of NATO infrastructure to it, and what he called the increased involvement of Western nuclear powers in the Ukrainian war on the side of Kiev.

The Russian president warned Vladimir Putin The West – last Wednesday – confirmed that under the proposed changes to the doctrine, Russia could use nuclear weapons if it was hit by conventional missiles and would consider any attack on it with the support of a nuclear force a joint attack.

Observers considered the changes an attempt by Putin to draw a “red line” for the United States and its allies by indicating that Moscow may resort to responding with nuclear weapons if they allow Ukraine to strike deep into Russia with long-range Western missiles.

The current Russian nuclear doctrine, according to a decree issued by President Vladimir Putin in 2020, stipulates that Russia may use nuclear weapons in the event of a nuclear attack from an enemy or an attack with conventional weapons that threatens the state’s existence.

Russian military analysts urged Putin to change that to fewer conditions for the use of nuclear weapons in order to “wake up” Russia’s enemies in the West, they said.
