Bert Huisjes ‘will not return’ to WNL for the time being

Bert Huisjes will not return to WNL for the time being. The supervisory board of WNL announced this on Tuesday. The Supervisory Board is responding to “an incorrect image” that arose after an earlier email to WNL employees that was sent on Monday, a spokesperson told the ANP.

In that email on Monday, nothing was said about Huisjes’ role as director at the broadcaster. The Supervisory Board thus seemed to keep intact the earlier decision to allow Huisjes to return as director, but not as editor-in-chief. There were previously complaints about his role as editor-in-chief, because he was allegedly guilty of inappropriate behavior.

Having conversations…

On Tuesday, the Supervisory Board sent a new message to all employees, which, according to the WNL spokesperson, “was intended to clear up a misunderstanding”. “Therefore, to clarify our intentions, the following is stated: Bert Huisjes will not be returning for the time being,” the message states. “We first want the conversations to be conducted calmly and carefully. The outcome of this is not fixed for us.”
