PCB banned Umar Akmal for 3 years

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a 3-year ban on cricketer Umar Akmal in a case of violating the code of conduct related to offering match-fixing.

Cricketer Umar Akmal will be banned from all types of cricket for 3 years. The PCB disciplinary panel, headed by Justice Retired Faisal Meeran Chauhan, pronounced the verdict in the case against Umar Akmal.

On February 20, the Pakistan Cricket Board suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect under Section 4.7.1 of the Anti-Corruption Code and an ongoing investigation by the Anti-Corruption Unit was initiated. Due to this suspension, Umar Akmal could not even participate in Pakistan Super League 5.

Later, it was reported that Umar Akmal was offered match fixing by the bookies, but he failed to inform the PCB in time.

After that, the anti-corruption unit of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) kept Umar Akmal’s phone data and summoned Umar Akmal and seized both his phones.

According to records, before PSL 2020, the bookie contacted Umar Akmal and offered him fixing.

After getting these solid evidences, PCB took action and then Umaral Akmal also admitted to contact bookie but he was suspended for not informing PCB or team management in time.

On March 20, cricketer Umar Akmal was charged with violating the anti-corruption code and Umar Akmal was given time to file his reply till March 31.

The Test cricketer was charged under 4.2.2 of the Anti-Corruption Code and alleged to have breached the law twice.
