The 22-year-old won clearly ahead of the German Andreas Wellinger and his ÖSV teammate Jan Hörl. Overall World Cup winner Stefan Kraft came in fifth place, Stephan Embacher completed the hosts’ strong performance in seventh place.
“Of course I’m really happy about that. Starting the first competition of the season like this is of course brilliant. That wasn’t apparent before,” said Tschofenig. Another normal hill competition follows on Sunday in Upper Austria.
