It is not yet certain that Bert Huisjes will return to WNL. Chairman Loek Hermans of the Supervisory Board announced this in an internal email to employees. It AD has this email in his hands. The supervisory board previously announced that Huisjes would return, but not as editor-in-chief.
“We first want the conversations to be conducted calmly and carefully. The outcome of this is not fixed for us. Only then will the Supervisory Board make further decisions.” By the conversations, the Council refers to conversations between employees and Huisjes. According to the supervisory board, the earlier communication was ‘a misunderstanding’.
Dozens of (former) WNL employees told the story at the beginning of this year AD about transgressive behavior within the broadcaster. According to (former) employees, Huisjes went extremely far with substantive interference. He was suspended and KPMG started investigating. In addition, an internal satisfaction survey was conducted by the Ipsos agency.
The Supervisory Board previously concluded on the basis of the secret KPMG investigation that there was no ‘legally culpable misconduct’. This was disappointing to many employees.
