Opposition leader María Corina Machado called for the “Great World Protest” for this Saturday, September 28, 2024, two months before the presidential elections in Venezuela.

From 12:00 am, citizens gathered in Caracas and the main capitals of the country with tricolor flags and banners alluding to the release of political prisoners.

A group of people gathered in the plaza of Los Palos Grandes, Chacao municipality, to ratify their support for María Corina Machado and Edmundo González.

Several of the protesters shared images of the protest through their social media accounts.

Reporter Jesús Quintero published a photograph of the rally in Mérida at approximately 12:30 pm.

“On the 60th day of the presidential elections on July 28 in Venezuela, the people of Merida took to the streets again peacefully,” said Quintero.

In addition to this, residents of the municipalities of San Diego, Valencia, Naguanagua, Guacara and Diego Ibarra, in Carabobo, protested with banners in which they highlighted the number of votes obtained by Edmundo González, according to the electoral records released by the opposition.

These posters were posted by protesters at the entrances to the voting centers.

On September 26, Machado urged Venezuelans inside and outside the country to gather to commemorate what he called “two months of victory,” referring to the fact that Edmundo González was the one who won the presidential elections on July 28.

“On July 28 we devastated and we have the evidence. We have the minutes. We win. Together we are going to unite our families, to live in freedom, we made history and the world knows it. Now is the time to defend our victory,” Machado said through a video posted on his social networks.

Machado explained that the purpose of the mobilization is to activate the world with the cause of Venezuela and for the government to accept “the truth,” referring to the electoral results that, according to the electoral minutes published by the Command with Venezuela, give victory. to Gonzalez.

About the “Great World Protest”

The people who participated in the “Great World Protest” did so in groups or located “comanditos” to join, they printed the minutes of their voting centers, listened to the audio message sent by María Corina Machado and sang the National Anthem at the closing the day.

In addition, the protesters who participated shared photographs and videos on social networks with the hashtags #YoMeSumo and #VzlaLibre.

Since the presidential elections, Machado has called for demonstrations on the 28th of each month.

The previous rally was held on August 28 under the slogan “Acta kills sentence”in rejection of the announcement by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) that ratified Nicolás Maduro as winner of the elections.
