Vice President: China is ready to hold talks with the US

He was speaking ahead of next week’s summit in San Francisco.

At the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore, Han Zheng said the recent high-level talks between China and the US gave positive signs that the relationship between the two countries is improving.

“We are ready to strengthen communication and dialogue with the United States at all levels, develop mutually beneficial cooperation, properly manage differences and solve global challenges together,” he said.

Recently, relations between Washington and Beijing have deteriorated sharply over a range of issues, including export controls, human rights and national security.

However, both countries seem to be working towards improving relations. Earlier this year, the US sent several high-ranking officials to Beijing to strengthen relations.

US President Joe Biden said he hopes to hold constructive talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping next week in San Francisco.

China has not yet confirmed the meeting, but Han Zheng echoed the view expressed by Xi Jinping that the issue of relations between Washington and Beijing is related to the future of humanity.

“The world is big enough for both countries to develop and prosper together,” he said.
