Traveling to Pau, Stade Français experienced a catastrophic second period which saw the Section score four tries and win the offensive bonus (30-16). In the ranking, the Béarnais are breathing unlike the Parisians, 13th and roadblocks.

Following the multiplex of the 4th day of Top 14, scene of the improved success of Perpignan against Clermont (33-3), Pau slipped to last place in the ranking. A delicate position occupied, however, for only a few hours by the Section. At the Hameau stadium in Parisian weather, the Béarnais were picked up cold by the Stade Français. Reinforced this summer among others by two former Palois, the Pink Soldiers found the fault thanks to a run from Sam Ezeala and a surgical foot pass from Zack Henry for Peniasi Dakuwaqa (3-10, 19th).

However, in the second half the Green and White erased their clumsiness and also regained control of operations thanks in particular to a newfound aggressiveness. This metamorphosis resulted in an incredible reversal of the situation and an improved victory for the locals (30-16). The revolt first came from Emilien Gailleton (11-16, 53rd). The three-quarter international center inspired his 3rd line Beka Gorgadze whose exemplary performance was rewarded three minutes later, giving his team the advantage for the first time (18-16, 57th).

Stade Français slips to 13th place

Building on their momentum, Sébastien Piqueronies’ men then made the Parisians crack in the last quarter of an hour. Recovering a very dangerous counter ball, Tumua Manu was not greedy against the return of Peniasi Dakuwaqa, offering his team’s third try to Théo Attissogbé (25-16, 67th). And the icing on the cake, Joe Simmonds took advantage of a missed tackle to sprint 25 meters and grant the Section an unexpected offensive bonus in the final moments of the game (30-16, 78th).

Pau therefore gains five points and has ten in the Top 14 ranking where it moves up to 8th place. If the Béarnais have left the red zone, they have on the other hand plunged the Stade Français into it, now 13th and tied with the red lantern, Vannes. Next weekend during the 5th day, the Vert et Blanc will go to Perpignan while the capital club will host Montpellier.
