Accessibility: How to get vibration feedback when listening to music on iPhone

The native app Music (Music) received a very interesting function with the arrival of iOS 18.

baptized by Tactile Music Response (Music Haptics)it uses the Taptic Engine (vibration engine in iPhones) to offer a response in the form of vibrations on the device while the music is playing — and in sync with it, of course.

The feature supports Apple Music, Apple Music Classical, Shazam, and third-party apps when iPhone is connected to a cellular network or Wi-Fi. Additionally, haptic feedback can also be used while you are using headphones wired or wireless earbuds (including those from Apple and Beats, of course).

How to activate Music Haptic Feedback

Open Settings, tap “Accessibility” and “Music Haptic Response” in the “Hearing” section. You can activate it, check the available apps and also play a sample of the resource in practice.

You can control vibration through Control Center or through compatible apps.

  • In Control Center: tap on the icon of a musical note that will appear when Music Haptic Response is activated in Settings. If it has a white outline, it will be on.

  • In Music and other compatible apps: Open the full-screen playback screen for compatible music, then tap Music Haptic Feedback (above the controls) to pause it. If the music does not support haptic feedback, a warning will appear.

To enjoy haptic music, Apple has prepared a special section in Apple Music with some special playlists with songs that support the function. You can check it in this link.
