Microsoft launches Copilot AI assistant to manage OneDrive files

Microsoft announced the launch of the artificial intelligence assistant Copilot on the OneDrive platform, with the aim of improving users’ experience in managing files stored in the cloud.

This launch comes as part of the gradual expansion that Microsoft has begun since the beginning of 2024 by adding the Copilot Assistant to all of its productivity applications, while allocating a special key for it in some devices.

The new assistant is currently available for licensed business users, and provides premium features to save time and increase productivity. The most prominent of these features are:

Create quick summaries for large files

Copilot allows users to generate short summaries for up to five files at the same time, shortening the process of searching for key points in long documents.

Compare the differences between files

Users can quickly and easily compare up to five files by displaying their key differences in a neat table, without having to open the files themselves.

Answer complex questions about files

Copilot helps users answer questions about content stored in multiple documents, without having to search within each document individually.

Copilot will be available to users with supported accounts, and a Copilot Assistant button will appear when the cursor is hovered over compatible files, which will allow it to be used to summarize the contents of multiple files at once.

This addition comes as part of Microsoft’s efforts to simplify cloud file management and increase user efficiency in the digital work environment.
