Eva took part in the competition to come up with a new neighbor for Donald Duck. She wanted a tough woman in her favorite magazine. ‘Eva Hamerslag is a carpenter,’ she says. She came up with the idea because she often sees her father doing odd jobs. “But I wanted a woman instead of a man, because there are plenty of tough men.” I looked to my family for her appearance. For example, she has my mother’s dreadlocks.’
Smart programmer
Eva also enjoyed making a young duck: Lex. ‘He’s also very tough, that’s why he has blue hair. He is a smart programmer who knows a lot about computers. But he also often does secret things that his mother doesn’t realize.’ More than 7,400 people took part in the competition. The new residents will be on the front page of the weekly magazine next week. They also occasionally appear in various comic strips. Eva is very happy that she has won. “Now I can finally tell it at school tomorrow.”
