Strict measures are being taken against those who violate traffic rules in Lahore, including sending e-challans to homes. Recently, a vehicle owner was fined Rs 83,650 for violating traffic rules 118 times.
According to the details, the owner of the vehicle broke the traffic signal 99 times, showed over speeding 8 times, violated the lane line 10 times, and took a wrong turn once. Due to these serious violations, the traffic police took the vehicle into custody.
CTO Lahore Amara Athar said that no exception will be taken in the e-challan campaign against those who violate traffic rules. He further said that the process of sending e-challans has also been started against drivers who do not use seat belts.
Amara Athar also clarified that indiscriminate operations are going on using artificial intelligence system. He appealed to the citizens that it is important to respect the traffic rules for orderly traffic, so as to ensure safety on the roads.
He said that the aim of this campaign is to remind the citizens of the importance of traffic rules and create awareness among them through severe penalties for their violation.
In the context of cyber security, he said that the traffic police has also taken steps to ensure the safety of citizens’ information under this system to avoid any kind of misuse.
