«The seafront will have a new look» – The Province of Civitavecchia

CERVETERI – The coast is preparing to change its shape. There are many projects at stake thanks to various loans that will allow the redevelopment of Campo di Mare. In all we are talking about over 3 million euros between funds from the Region, the Metropolitan City and also from the Municipality itself which recently took out a mortgage. The creation of the pedestrian walkway over the Zambra ditch which will allow a direct connection between Campo di Mare and Furbara is undoubtedly fascinating. The mayor also focuses on other interventions. «The works are divided into different lots – explains Elena Gubetti -, in addition to the cycle path connecting the station and the seafront which is being completed in recent days, the construction site started with the Metropolitan City for the redevelopment of Piazza Morbidelli and the areas equipped for practicing sport. Playgrounds, skate track and outdoor gymnastics equipment are included.” The list includes the widening of the cycle path from the Cerenova railway station to the Etruscan Navigators seafront, winding between Viale Campo di Mare, Viale Mediterraneo and Viale Adriatico. However, a project openly contested by citizen committees due to the narrow roadway and the change in traffic in some areas. Then bulldozers and workers will also go into action on the side closest to the beaches of Campo di Mare. «We are talking about pedestrian paths – adds the mayor – and equipped parking areas. The extension of the cycle path and the bridge over the Zambra river are important: they will be inserted within the Tirrenica that the Lazio Region is building.”

Public green areas, benches and street furniture and games for the little ones. «When everything is completed – Gubetti continues – our coastline will have an enormous possibility of development while always maintaining its nature as a special place with a unique landscape in which the gaze is lost between the sea and the Tolfa mountains». The declared objective is to complete most of the works before next summer.
