After just a few seconds the guests found themselves in the majority and Korbinian Holzer had to go to the penalty box. The home team was able to hold off and it remained goalless. In the 7th minute, Nico Brunner redeemed the fans with a shot from the blue line and made it 1-0. The Graz team remained toxic and increased to 2-0 in the 10th minute, the goalscorer was Rok Ticar. The bar prevented an even greater lead in the 11th minute, Kernberger slammed the thing onto the metal. Despite good chances, the 99ers couldn’t use their first power play either, so the score remained 2-0 after 20 minutes.

15 seconds after the restart it was the 99ers who were in the majority again. The home team set the tone and had more of the game, but it was still the guests who scored the next goal. John Hughes made it 2-1 and brought his Eagles back into the game. And they followed up, 2-2 in the 37th minute through Nikita Scherbak. Everything back to square one before the last 20 minutes.

The final period was just 10 seconds old when Michi Schiechl put the home team back in front 3-2. Due to a carelessness in the Graz defense, Chase Pearson equalized again to make it 3-3. In the same minute, the 99ers went ahead again, Kevin Roy entered the shooting list.

The captain himself made it 5:3, with Korbinian Holzer turning away in celebration in the 56th minute. But the Villach Adler didn’t know how to give up, they got back to 5:4, two minutes before the end Max Coatta scored. The empty net goal by Michi Schiechl in the 59th minute was the final point in the 6:4 victory for the 99ers.
