The Israeli army, Thursday (26/9), withdrew from the city of Jenin and surrounding areas in the occupied West Bank, after carrying out a military operation for 18 hours. Witnesses told Anadolu that Israeli soldiers on Wednesday stormed Jenin and began destroying more infrastructure and roads.

At least six Palestinians were detained in the operation, local sources said. The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that the Israeli military operation in Jenin and the surrounding area killed a 37-year-old woman and left four other women seriously injured.

According to Ayman Obeida, a member of the Municipal Council of Anza Village near Jenin, Israeli troops stormed the village and opened fire indiscriminately at a funeral home. As a result, one woman died and four others were injured.

Over the past few years, the Israeli military has carried out regular attacks in the West Bank, which have increased since the outbreak of war in Gaza on October 7 2023. Palestinians have also been attacked by illegal Israeli settlers.

The health ministry noted that since then at least 718 Palestinians have been killed and more than 5,750 others injured as a result of Israeli army fire in the occupied territory.

In a ruling on July 19, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land illegal and demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. (Ant/Z-2)
