Second international ARAG Day for more access to law / In Germany, additional focus on health and sport

“The premiere in 2023 was a complete success. This year we have once again helped many people with their legal problems who often have no opportunity to do so. We are once again emphasizing how important free access to the law is,” emphasizes Dr . Renko Dirksen, CEO of ARAG SE.

Equal access to justice is explicitly anchored in the 17 “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN). Their aim is to promote socially, economically and ecologically sustainable development. “Equal opportunities before the law is part of ARAG’s DNA and is an integral part of our corporate strategy. As the world’s largest legal protection insurer, we are actively committed to rights, equal opportunities and a sustainable transformation of society with ARAG Day,” emphasizes Dr. Renko Dirksen. While ARAG SE and its international units focused on legal aspects, the subsidiaries ARAG Krankenversicherungs-AG and ARAG Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG organized suitable events with their own focus.

Legal advice from Tafel Düsseldorf e. V. and the SOS Children’s Village Düsseldorf

At the second ARAG Day, ARAG SE in Germany also offered free legal advice at two locations of Tafel Düsseldorf e. V. in Düsseldorf Garath and Hassels are offered to their customers. For the first time, independent lawyers advised on legal questions relating to social, tenancy, immigration and family law in the multi-generation house of the SOS Children’s Village in Düsseldorf Garath and also provided general assistance. “Our children, young people and families in the multi-generational house in the SOS Children’s Village Düsseldorf have, in addition to their daily financial worries and needs, also often legal questions; be it about maintenance, tenancy law or problems with the authorities. The inhibition threshold to ask for legal advice here is very high because many people fear possible costs or simply cannot cope with the bureaucratic challenges. That’s why we very much welcome this low-threshold and free offer from ARAG,” emphasizes Frank Dille, responsible for marketing, communication and fundraising at SOS Children’s Village Düsseldorf.

Free legal support also at the international ARAG locations

The international ARAG locations once again focused on campaigns for special target groups for whom free access to the law is not possible – usually for financial reasons. For example, ARAG Ireland and its partner, the ALONE charity, provided legal advice to older people in need. For the first time this year, the legal protection insurer HELP, which is part of the ARAG Group, also took part in ARAG Day in Scandinavia. The main company in Norway, together with its partner ID-Juristen, provided legal advice to disadvantaged people on the topic of identity theft. The Danish HELP subsidiary and its partner Dansk Stalking Center focused on victims of stalking and cyberbullying.

ARAG Kranken and ARAG Allgemeine with their own events for ARAG Day

Outside of the legal protection division, the other two large German ARAG companies have organized their own ARAG Day – each tailored to their needs. ARAG Krankenversicherungs-AG offered a mental health day with five workshops to young people in the 7th and 8th grades of a regional middle school. These were carried out by the experts from the cooperation partner DEIN MÜNCHEN on the topics of resilience and inner strength, bullying, dealing with stress, yoga and breathing as well as better sleep. ARAG Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG is also Germany’s largest sports insurer. After the great success of the first ARAG Sport Challenge last year in Lower Saxony, she organized together with the sports club TSG GutsMuths 1860 Quedlinburg e. V. and the State Sports Association of Saxony-Anhalt e. V. is holding the second ARAG Sport Challenge. Over 600 primary school children accepted the invitation. The aim of the ARAG Sport Challenge is to give children special access to physical fitness and club sports and to also promote integration and inclusion through sport. This year, students from two local special schools also enriched the field of participants.
