Robert Lenz is the new strong man in the coaching zone of Upper Austrian league team SPG Pregarten. After the separation from Dominik Nimmervoll, the 39-year-old German is supposed to turn things around. The first option couldn’t be more difficult: The Mühlviertel team will host top team Dietach at Lenz’s debut tomorrow (7 p.m.).
“Pregarten is a matter of the heart. That’s why I agreed,” says Lenz, who actually wanted to focus fully on his second mainstay: With “Torgarant” he started an individual project in which everything a good striker needs is trained. “Nowadays, very few clubs can get a ready-made striker. They have to train them themselves,” says Lenz.
At the bottom of the highest league in the state, it will also be a matter of getting the second-weakest defense (note: 18 goals conceded) under control. How is he going to do that? Above all, the lever should be applied mentally: “The footballing quality of the team is undisputed. Fresh energy needs to come back into the team.” Then the goal guarantor for Pregarten may soon become a points guarantor…
