The Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT), in a press release, announced Thursday the withdrawal of the Panthers A’ national team from the qualifiers for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), the final phase of which will be co-organized by three countries (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania).
« Given the non-organization of elite championships for 2 years, FEGAFOOT has therefore decided to postpone the participation of the national A’ team in the CHAN qualifications while waiting for elite domestic competitions to resume properly. art », Indicates the federation.
Gabon has not organized its national championship for two successive years due to lack of money. The competition is entirely supported by the State. All the solutions imagined to find sustainable financing for the championship have failed.
The first round of the CHAN 2024 qualifiers will begin on the weekend of October 25 to 27, 2024 and November 1 to 13, 2024. The second round of the qualifiers will be played from December 20 to 22 and December 27 to 27, 2024.
CHAN is an African football competition bringing together only players playing in their national championship. Internationals are excluded from this competition.
