The “TECH fair” to be held in November expands the spectrum of professions: not only programmers are welcome | Business

The mission of the event is to show that careers can be changed regardless of age, and the IT and technology sectors are waiting for new employees. Both already IT/Tech specialists and people who want to learn more about a career in the IT sector are welcome at the fair. As the organizers of the event emphasize, not every employee in the IT sector needs programming knowledge.

“Sometimes we still face the misconception that the IT/Tech sector only needs programmers. Indeed, in any larger company that develops technology products or develops IT projects, professionals from various fields work together. These include project managers, designers, marketing, finance and other specialists. We believe that representatives of very different professions will find interesting career opportunities at our event,” says Julija Rimšelė, head of Vilnius Coding School and organizer of the event.

The TECH fair, which will be held for the 8th time, will offer participants a conference part, during which presentations and discussions will be held, and an employers’ fair, where a special variety of company profiles will await. Among them are not only well-known faces of the IT sector, but also representatives of the public sector and companies from other fields that develop products and implement IT/Tech projects.

“During the event, we hope to meet undiscovered talents in the field of technology. We hope that we will receive many people who are interested in talking more about the possibilities and what “Nasdaq” is currently experiencing in Lithuania. Our main goal is to expand our community and invite you to join it, thus increasing the opportunities for candidates to get a job,” says Greta Paulauskaitė, Head of Talent Attraction at Nasdaq.

According to many companies participating in the fair, in order to attract the attention of potential candidates, they put a lot of effort into offering the most attractive working conditions and presenting their fields of activity as interestingly as possible.

“We want to be seen in Lithuania, not only as a fashion department store on the Internet, but also as an employer in the IT sector. Because we develop not only online stores, mobile apps, but also warehouse management, customer service, and financial systems, we hope to meet those who are interested and talk more about what Boozt can offer to talents in Lithuania.

We aim to offer a great working environment with a strong sense of community. For this purpose, we are creating an environment where colleagues, including those who have recently started their career path, would share their experience in overcoming challenges and creating new solutions”, says Aistė Gečienė, manager of Boozt Technology Baltics.

The interviewed companies also agree that professionals in the field of technology care about inclusion at work, opportunities to propose their ideas, grow and improve.

“More and more often, candidates want to hear about the culture of the organization, the meaning of work. We predict that the further along, the more candidates will want to work not only on the latest technology or tools, but also on products that are close to their values. Therefore, the selection process cannot be just a technical interview. It is important to better understand the candidates’ long-term goals, values, desire to work in a team”, says Emilija Meškauskaitė, Partner of Talent Attraction at “Ignitis Grupė”.

The organizers of the event are “Vilnius Coding School”. At the event, you will already be able to meet live representatives of these companies – Gurtam, SEB bankas, Ignitis grupė, Boozt, State Data Agency, Nordcurrent, Western Union, Nasdaq, Employment Service, Orion Innovation, “Avia Solutions Group” and “Registrų centras”. The list of participants is constantly updated.
