The annual Hudson Valley Balloon Festival, held in the summer at Tymor Park in Union Vale, New York, has been one of the region’s most successful events for more than 20 years. New York’s scenic landscapes transform into a kaleidoscope of vivid colors and surreal shapes during the Hudson Valley Balloon Festival, captivating locals and tourists alike.

Festival Program

On Saturday and Sunday at dawn, the celebration comes to life with the captivating mass ascent of hot air balloons. These towering giants rise gently into the early morning sky, creating a stunning panorama that perfectly reflects the essence of the area’s natural beauty. After the majestic balloon show, the event offers a delightful mix of activities and entertainment. Event highlights include nighttime fireworks and the Majestic Nighttime Hot Air Balloon Illumination.

Participants have the option of tethered or untethered balloon rides, offering a unique opportunity to soar over the Hudson Valley and enjoy its allure from above. Live music, a wide variety of dining options and the excitement of family events fill the grounds, fostering a happy and supportive environment. You get to relax during sunrise yoga with balloons while your kids can test their drone skills on the Drone Zone Obstacle Course.

Musical programming and entertainment

The Silver Starlets, an all-female acrobatic duo, will wow audiences with their unique 45-minute performance on the 20-foot (6m) trapeze during each day of the festival. On Friday, the band North County, an indie-pop outfit, will perform on the event’s main stage, followed by 50 Amp Fuse on Saturday. Lucky House will close out this year’s balloon festival lineup with its concert on Sunday.

Time

The festival begins with its evening program on Friday at 2:30 pm. The morning show runs from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, while the late-night show is scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Early morning takeoff takes place at 6:30 am on Saturdays and Sundays, while afternoon takeoffs are scheduled at 5:30 pm. Musical performances run from 3 pm to 8 pm on all three days. The Silver Starlets show is scheduled for 8 a.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:45 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. The fireworks show and balloon glow will begin at 7:30 pm each day.

Tickets

Admission tickets and full balloon rides can only be purchased in advance online. Tickets are $14 for morning admission and $24 for afternoon admission. Tethered rides are $30 per person, cash only and on-site. Union Wale residents can enjoy special pricing privileges. The price for morning and afternoon hot air balloon flights is $350 per person. The Weekend Access Pass costs $38 per person and can be used for all three days. Admission of children under three years old is free. On-site parking is also free.
