21 people were injured, five were hospitalized

As a result of an enemy attack on the center of Zaporizhia on September 22, 21 people were injured, including a 15-year-old boy. Five townspeople were hospitalized. Currently, 2 women remain in the hospital – 94 and 23 years old. However, the wounded continue to seek medical help. More than forty houses were damaged. 185 residents of the regional center applied for help in restoration.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., three powerful explosions rocked Zaporozhye. Russian troops inflicted cynical blows on the city center and on civilians who were already sleeping. Windows in dozens of houses were blown out by the blast wave, and balconies were destroyed. People were injured by broken glass. Zaporizhian Zhanna is recovering from a nightmare.

– I heard a loud explosion. In the apartment, all the windows were blown out together with the frames. When she ran from the apartment on the glass, she cut herself a little. It was very scary. I don’t remember much from that night, said Ms. Zhanna.

Among the injured is a 94-year-old resident of the regional center. At half past one in the morning, the woman was taken by ambulance to one of the city’s hospitals with a mine-explosive injury. According to the patient, a window frame fell on her during the explosion.

– The woman was taken to the hospital with a head injury. She underwent initial surgical treatment of the wound, sutures were applied, and a computer tomography of the brain was performed. Currently, the patient is in a moderate condition, she is conscious, said doctor Dmytro Oleksandrovych.

On the afternoon of September 23, a 23-year-old woman from Zaporozhye was admitted to the hospital. According to her doctor Nataliya Vasylivna, the girl was admitted to the medical institution conscious with complaints of a headache.

– The patient has a severe craniocerebral injury, a fracture of the base of the skull and a bilateral fracture of the craniofacial skeleton. There is a suspicion of a bruised lung. Now she is in a serious condition in the intensive care unit, the doctor said.

69-year-old Mrs. Vira also received minor injuries from glass fragments. The woman was given first aid: the wounds were treated and bandaged. She refused to be hospitalized, instead she collects the necessary and surviving things from the damaged apartment. Plans to live with children for the time being.

– I was just standing in the bedroom when the explosion happened. Immediately glass fell on me. I was afraid, I tried to find a way out in the dark, that’s why I cut myself. The apartment is destroyed. I don’t know if I will continue to live here, – shared Ms. Vira.

Rescuers worked on the scene almost from the first minutes after the impact. They evacuated people to safe places and freed residents from locked apartments. Employees of the State Emergency Service promptly extinguished the fire of the car and the balcony of the apartment, which occurred after the shelling.

Since morning, communal services have been working at the sites of shelling: they remove glass from the sidewalks, cut down trees damaged by the impact, sew up window openings with OSB boards, and remove construction debris.

The National Police of Ukraine is currently determining why the civilians of Zaporizhzhia were attacked.

– The enemy continues to attack the civilian infrastructure of the city. Currently, an examination is being conducted to determine the exact type of means of destruction, – commented the first deputy head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration, Ruslan Movchan.
