Europa League: reduced to ten, Anderlecht is scared but offers a first success against Ferencvaros

The Brussels residents won 2-1 thanks to goals from Yari Verschaeren (60th) and Kasper Dolberg from the penalty spot (66th).

Anderlecht beat Ferencvaros this Wednesday on the first day of the Europa League league stage. At the end of the match, the expulsion of Nilson Angulo (80th) and an own goal from Jan-Carlo Simic (86th) gave Anderlecht a cold sweat.

For this European meeting, David Hubert lined up almost the same eleven as last weekend during the eighth day of the Jupiler Pro League against Charleroi (0-0), Francis Amuzu numerically taking the place of Mats Rits. A return cut short by an injury in the first half (40th). At home, the Mauves had the game in hand without being really close to opening the score. Kasper Dolberg (6th) and Samuel Edozie (8th, 25th) had great opportunities. In the second half, Anderlecht came back with a fairer game and with more impact. On the hour mark, Yari Verschaeren broke the deadlock with a nice, precise shot from the edge of the area (60th).

A few minutes later, Dolberg, with his head, pushed Dibusz to relax (65th) and, in the continuity of the action, Edozie caused a penalty. The Danish striker did not tremble and made it 2-0 (66th). Everything seemed to be going perfectly for the Mauves, but a double yellow card in two minutes for Nilson Angulo (78th, 80th) reduced them to ten. Ferencvaros put more pressure and Adama Traoré pushed Jan-Carlo Simic for an own goal (86th). Fortunately for David Hubert and his men, the score no longer changed.

Anderlecht immediately offers itself a victory and three important points in the race for the round of 16. Next week, they will travel to Real Sociedad (October 3, 6:45 p.m.).
