Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office denies Israel’s openness to a ceasefire ahead of the start of truce talks. Netanyahu’s office itself makes this known: “This is a Franco-American proposal to which the prime minister has not yet responded.” The statement also describes as “contrary to the truth” a Channel 13 report that Netanyahu ordered the IDF to tone down attacks in Lebanon, stressing that the prime minister authorized the army to continue striking with all its force and adding that fighting in Gaza will continue until all war objectives are achieved.

According to a reconstruction by the Israeli media Channel 13, the Israeli government had given its conditional green light to the ceasefire for negotiations with Hezbollah mediated by Western countries. According to the same source, at the same time, in the context of the talks, Netanyahu ordered the IDF to moderate the attacks in Lebanon. Netanyahu’s office denied both reports.
