DPR CHAIRMAN Puan Maharani emphasized that every policy produced must be in line with Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. Members of the people’s representatives as partners of the government must work together to carry out their various tasks.
Puan also said that Indonesia can strengthen the unity of the nation, have Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, in so much diversity only because it has Pancasila as the ideology of national and state life and as the soul of the Indonesian nation.
“It is our common challenge and task, especially for us, members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Indonesian Regional Representative Council, that every state policy produced must be in line with Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, maintain the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia, and unite the people in the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” he explained.
Elected members of the DPR and DPD are reminded to play an active role in building obedience to the law because Indonesia is a country of law. As state institutions that also form laws, the DPR and DPD are obliged to carry out duties and authorities that must be in line with and obey the law.
“Members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Indonesian Regional Representative Council, in their oath of office, also stated that they will fight for the aspirations of the people. Therefore, members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Indonesian Regional Representative Council must always meet with the people in their electoral districts, to find out the various aspirations and even criticisms conveyed,” he said.
Puan hopes that this activity to strengthen national values can provide an opportunity for elected members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Indonesian Regional Representative Council for the 2024-2029 period to broaden their horizons regarding national dynamics. In addition, people’s representatives who will determine state policies are also asked to help strengthen their national commitment.
Puan became the leader of the Strengthening Ceremony of National Values for elected DPR and DPD Members held by the KPU RI and the National Defense Institute (Lemhanas) at the Shangrila Hotel, Jakarta, Saturday (21/9). This activity was attended by elected DPR RI and DPD RI Members for the 2024-2029 period. (S-1)
