Tennis star Uns Jaber donates part of the prize to the Palestinians

Tunisia Tennis star Unas Jaber WTA It has been announced that part of the prize money of the final will be donated to the Palestinians.

Speaking on court after her win in the season-ending championship, Uns Jaber became emotional and could not hold back tears, according to AFP news agency.

Referring to the Israeli aggression on Gaza, he said with moist eyes, “I am unhappy with the current state of the world.”

He said that it is very difficult to see children dying every day.

He said: ‘It’s heartbreaking. That is why I have decided to donate part of my prize money to help the Palestinians.’

He also said: ‘I am sorry but this is not a political message, it is only for humanity. I want peace in this world and nothing else.’

In his press conference after the match, 29-year-old Uns Jaber said that it was a challenge to focus on tennis in this situation.

Uns Jaber said: ‘I try to stay away from social media as much as possible but it’s very difficult. You see (heartbreaking) videos, pictures. Every day there are such horrible images that you can’t sleep, you can’t get out and the worst thing is that I feel hopeless.’

She added: ‘Maybe donating some money from me will help them in some way, but I know the money has no purpose for them right now, so I would like to thank everyone. I wish for freedom and peace.’

In order to qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing tournament in Mexico, Uns Jaber will have to beat world number two Aiga Sviatak in the final round-robin match on Friday.
