Pon’s Summer is all about delivering mail and pulling off gnarly tricks

As part of the Xbox Tokyo Game Show stream, developer Denkiworks just shared a first look at an upcoming adventure game. Known as Tanuki: Pon’s Summer, this title is a laid-back experience all about delivering mail and pulling off gnarly tricks on your bike while being a lovable and fluffy tanuki mailman.

We’re told that you can freely roam around the charming Japanese town where the game is set, and that various additional activities are offered, such as bug catching, karaoke, fishing, and baseball, along with opportunities to make friends with the townspeople and chances to decorate and restore the local Great Tanuki Shrine.

The exact description of Tanuki: Pon’s Summer states in a press release: “Slip into the furry paws of Pon and BMX in style as a part-time postman in a quaint Japanese town, delivering packages, doing tricks, and helping locals on quests. In this fantastic summer adventure, you’ll experience fun activities like catching bugs, making sushi, playing baseball, sumo, and more, while unlocking a variety of decorations to restore the Grand Tanuki Shrine for the end-of-summer Matsuri Festival! Experience village life and create your own unique story as you befriend (or piss off) a group of quirky townspeople and manage your relationships with an intuitive, emoji-based dialogue system!”

Tanuki: Pon’s Summer will be released for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S when it finally releases.
