The woman had previously taken her small Lagotto dog protectively in her arms after the bull terrier had behaved aggressively and pulled violently on the leash.
Its owner, a 53-year-old German, eventually lost control and the dog ran away.
After the bull terrier had injured the Austrian woman, the German woman was able to grab the dog by its collar and pull it back, police reported. The injured woman eventually went to Zams Hospital on her own, where a deep bite wound on her thigh was discovered. The incident was only reported on Wednesday.
