Family to Welcome Captain Philip Mark Mehrten in Jakarta

THE family of Susi Air pilot Philip Mark Mehrten flew from Bali to Jakarta after hearing the news of his family’s release. Philip himself is currently also on his way to Jakarta.

“His wife was on her way to Jakarta from Bali,” said Susi Air’s attorney, Donal Fariz, in a written statement, Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Donal explained that the family is expected to arrive in Jakarta at 20.00 WIB. In addition to his wife, Philip’s other family will also meet in Jakarta later.

“Phill’s wife, children, and brother,” said Donal.

Philip Mark Mehrtens was successfully freed by the Cartenz Peace Task Force from the hostage situation of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Egianus Kogoya. Philip is planned to be flown directly to Jakarta today.

“We will fly him to Jakarta to then carry out the next process, so that’s it for now from me,” said Pangkogabwilhan III Lt. Gen. TNI Bambang Trisnohadi during a press conference in Timika, Saturday, September 21, 2024.

On Saturday, September 21, Philip was successfully picked up by the Joint TNI-Polri Team which is part of the Cartenz 2024 Peace Task Force. Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz 2024 Peace Operation, AKBP Bayu Suseno explained that Philip was successfully freed and picked up by the joint team in Yuguru Village, Maibarok District, Nduga Regency and was immediately flown to Mako Brimob Battalion B/Timika.
