Chelsea’s cannonade, Manchester City’s agony

Chelsea faced Barrow AFC, who normally play in League 2 (fourth tier of the league), and easily secured promotion, winning 5-0. Christopher Nkunku scored a hat-trick.

At Stamford Bridge the evening was very quiet for the home fans. It was different at the Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City were quickly leading 2-0 against Watford, but then the Hornets caught up and kept the chance for a sensation until the end. In the end, it did not happen and Pep Guardiola’s team reported to the next phase.

Leicester City had bigger problems. The Premier League newcomer defeated Walsall FC (League 2) only in a penalty shootout, winning 3-0.

In regular time, Aston Villa won the qualification, beating Wycombe Wanderers (League 1) 2:1 away. Oliwier Zych spent the entire match on the bench for “The Villans”.

Wednesday will see two more third round matches. Jakub Kiwior’s Arsenal will host Bolton Wanderers, while Liverpool will face Łukasz Fabiański’s West Ham United.
