The search for a 5-month-old baby and his grandmother, missing in the flooding of the Sterza torrent in Montecatini Val di Cecina (Pisa), has been underway since last night. Cloudbursts and floods are affecting a large area in Tuscany, particularly the provinces of Pisa and Livorno. “Between Castagneto Carducci, San Vincenzo, Monteverdi Marittimo and Montecatini Val di Cecina, up to 226 mm of rain fell in 6 hours, more than the average rainfall in the entire rainiest month. Since weather records began, such an intense disturbance has never hit the area”, wrote Eugenio Giani, president of the Tuscany Region, on social media.
