LATAM will operate flights with Wamos Air Airbus A330s to several destinations in America – Aviacionline

In a new update to the reservation system it was observed that the LATAM Group will incorporate aircraft into its fleet – in wet leasing mode Wamos Air Airbus A330-200 in three of its destinations, due to a reduction in its wide-body fleet due to the seating reconfiguration project.

According to a statement on its portal for travel agencies, the LATAM Group explained that “Due to operational needs, the operation of Wamos Air aircraft and crews will be temporarily activated,” which implies an agreement wet-leaseThis is not the first time that the two airlines have worked together, as they have also collaborated in the past to ensure scheduled itineraries.

Although LATAM has not given specific details about the operational reasons behind this agreement, it is speculated that the reconfiguration of the business class seats of its Boeing 787 Dreamlinerannounced a couple of weeks ago, is directly related to the decision to resort to Wamos Air.

In 2018, LATAM also operated temporary flights with Boeing 747-400 from Wamos Air, when the engines Rolls Royce Trent 1000 Package C of their Boeing 787 were subject to additional inspections.

Wamos Air’s first A330 destinations for LATAM

This time, LATAM will use again the Airbus A330-200 from Wamos Air, which will be based in Santiago de Chile (SCL) to fly to the following destinations:

  • Bogotá; starting in November, six weekly flights, flights LA 572/575, LA 710/711
  • Los Angeles, from November to May 2025, 3-4 weekly flights, flight LA ​​602/603.
  • Lima, starting in November, flight LA ​​638/639, four times a week.

LATAM has specified that all ground services, such as ticket sales, check-in processes and airport service, will be managed like any other LATAM flight.

Wamos Air joined the Abra Group in May 2024, which includes Avianca and GOL. Its current fleet consists of seven Airbus A330-300s and five A330-200s with various configurations, ranging from 280 to 408 seats. It currently operates as an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) operator, offering capacity to other airlines and charter flights to tour operators.
