The emergency aid fund with which the European Union wanted to combat the roots of irregular migration and help people in African countries to build their own lives on the continent was ultimately worth around five billion euros. The funding instrument with the cumbersome name “European Union Emergency Trust Fund to support stability and combat the root causes of irregular migration and forced displacement in Africa” - EUTF Africa for short – will end at the end of next year, and it is being criticized by the auditors of the European Court of Auditors.
