Polakis proposed to speed up the procedures

Contrary to the proposal of the majority on the timetable for the conference and the election of the president and KE, he declared that he is Pavlos Polakis at the meeting of the body, at the same time submitting a proposal to speed up the procedures in order not to prolong the current internal party situation.

Mr. Polakis, who posted parts of his position on social media, proposes the following schedule:

“1. 29/09/2024 Submission of nominations (the only condition is 30 signatures)

2. 05/10/2024 Standing conference (with the same delegates as in February) to announce nominations.

3. 03/11/2024 First vote for president

4. 10/11/2024 Second vote for president”.

In addition, he called on “everyone, starting with the presidential candidates, to declare the following two things from today: first, that they will respect the result, whatever it is, and they will remain in SYRIZA. Secondly, that in a short period of time after the election of the president we will proceed to a programming conference and a statutory conference of the party”. He stressed that he personally would not take his possible election as a blank mandate to bring about constitutional changes. “Enough work has already been done, which we are not throwing away.”

He said that the most serious change that needs to be made is the regional restructuring of the party and argued that “some small but crucial changes should be made in the delivery of our program”. In this regard, he said that “it is one thing to say that I am reducing the excise tax and another to say that I am returning to 9 dollars from 25 the profit per barrel, it is another thing to say that I am adjusting the target model and another to say that there is a limit on the price of of wholesale electricity from PPC, which we are bringing back under public control, it is one thing to say that there will be a barrier to profiteering and another that there will be an increase in the prices of consumer goods”. He commented that “one is conflict with intertwining in a specific way that negates super profits and redistributes in favor of the poor and the other is “other words to love each other”.

He himself attacked the government, to comment that “in the face of all this, we dear comrades, talk to each other about coups”. He said in particular, that “Stephanos’ second speech after the motion of censure was passed, I took it as a sad reaction to a result that he did not expect.” He commented that “no one questioned the ability of the KE to vote on a motion of censure, no one questioned the ability to make a decision on the voting method” and that “Stefanos himself seemed to accept the result, collecting things from his office the other day ». He added that “suddenly, four days later this river of poison started pouring out.” “Why don’t we go straight to the grassroots to vote and decide again? From most of you I can accept whatever you say. But I cannot accept Antonaros or Spiliotopoulos talking about coup plotters,” he said.

He said that everyone knows that he initially supported Stefanos Kasselakis, adding: “I tried to help, I forgave a lot of insults towards me, I never came out to say things in public. But that’s not how we move forward and above all we don’t win because of leadership and line.”
