Paraguay has the highest percentage of female participation in business ownership, according to WB

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Paraguay ranks first in the indicator of the percentage of companies with female participation in ownership, with an incidence of 63.4%, compared to 47.4% for Latin America and the Caribbean, and 33.8% worldwide, according to a report by the World Bank.

The data was analyzed by the Competitive Intelligence Directorate of the Vice Ministry of the Import and Export Network (Rediex), which highlights that, among more than 1,000 indicators, the participation of women in company ownership (Firm Ownership Participation) and in senior management (Top Management) was measured.

In this regard, the impact of female participation in company ownership is highlighted.

However, in terms of women in senior management positions, Paraguay ranks 37th among 96 countries evaluated, a position shared with Armenia and Portugal.

Paraguayan women account for 19.1% of senior management positions, compared to 20.3% in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 18.7% worldwide.

While the first indicator covers the entire universe of companies, the second indicator was collected through surveys in some 100,000 companies around the world, covering the majority of the positions of manager or CEO.

The differences between the two parameters can be interpreted as a high level of prominence of Paraguayan women in general companies, while in the top positions of larger companies, there is a male predominance, according to the Rediex analysis.
